London BSL Interpreters

Personal Statement

I’m a qualified and registered BSL Interpreter with a background in Deaf Studies (BA Hons, 2014) and the SLI Advanced Diploma in BSL–English Interpreting and Translation. I began my career working in Higher and Further Education, where I provided interpreting and note-taking support for five years. That experience gave me a strong foundation in working alongside Deaf students and understanding the range of communication preferences, access needs and professional contexts they navigate. Since 2019, I’ve worked as a freelance interpreter across a broad range of settings, including medical appointments, corporate and office environments, media work, conferences, education, theatre and performance, and LGBTQIA+ events. I value the variety that freelance work brings and the opportunity to adapt to different environments while maintaining consistent professional standards. I aim to work in a way that is professional, clear and collaborative. I prioritise creating a supportive and person-centred interpreting environment, tailoring my approach to the needs of the individuals and teams involved. My focus is always on accurate, respectful communication and ensuring access is delivered confidently and smoothly. Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, staying active and exploring new places – which helps me maintain energy and balance alongside a busy interpreting schedule. If you’re looking for a reliable and experienced BSL Interpreter, I’d be pleased to work with you.
